The Valor of Gat Andres Bonifacio

A puppet show was made to portray the events that happened during the history especially about the heroic deeds of Andres Bonifacio in fighting the Spanish colonizers to gain freedom. Andres Bonifacio was the founder of Katipunan that aims to fight the colonizers. he lead the Cry of Pugad Lawin that started the Philippine revolution. He and his brother were both arrested, jailed and later on executed with the crime treason.

The Cry of Pugadlawin is a remarkable event in the Philippine history. It took place on August 23, 1896 at the house of Juan A. Ramos, the son of Melchora Aquino, under the leadership of Andres Bonifacio, the head of Katipunan. More than 500 members of the Katipunan tore their cedulas as a sign of rebellion against the Spaniards.

The Tejeros Convention was held at Tejeros, Cavite (now General Trias) on March 22, 1897. It was the meeting that brought together the members of Magdalo and Magdiwang into one group. The real reason for the convention is to bridge the increasing gap between the two groups but then it turned out to be an election of the leaders for the revolution.

After Emilio Aguinaldo have known about the Naic declaration, he instructed his men to capture Andres Bonifacio and the Katipuneros in Limbon, Indang, Cavite. They were captured and during the encounter, Ciriaco, the brother of Bonifacio, was killed.

A Council of War was formed to try the case of Andres and Procopio Bonifacio. The trial lasted for a week from April 29 - May 4, 1897. Though there was not enough evidence against Bonifacio and his brother, they were found guilty of treason and sedition and were sentenced to death.

The Bonifacio brothers were brought to Mt. Nagpatong on May 10, 1897. Major Lazaro Makapagal led the firing squad of the two brothers. Andres and Procopio Bonifacio were shot and killed for being guilty in treason and sedition even though there are no enough evidences.
