Riego de Dios: Ancestral House



The ancestral house was originally owned by the Riego de Dios Brothers named Emiliano and Mariano Riego de Dios. They played an important part during the revolution in our country. It is situated at Brgy. Poblacion 2. Unfortunately, it is not open to the public because there is a private owner of this house.

Bonifacio Shrine (Slideshow)



Bonifacio Shrine showcases the selected period of Andres Bonifacio's life which represents the events involved in molding our national history. This historical place is where the Bonifacio brothers were executed during the Spanish regime. It is located at Mt. Nagpatong in Maragondon, Cavite. The shrine is open to public daily.

Something More About Bonifacio Shrine...



Bonifacio Shrine, located at Mt. Nagpatong in Maragondon, Cavite is where the life of  the Bonifacio brothers ended. This shrine was built to commemorate the great courage Gat Andres Bonifacio showed for the Filipinos to achieve the sought freedom. Its walls have brass sculptures depicting the bravery of the founder of Katipunan.Those sculptures also illustrated and gave us a picture of the history during his times.

Mr. Demetrio Agbayon's Preservation of the Bonifacio Shrine



Mr. Demetrio Agbayon, a nightshift caretaker of the Bonifacio Shrine, accepted the invitation for an interview of how they are taking care of the shrine to preserve it. He cited the proceedings of how they maintain the site the same with the problems they encounter on its maintainance. The site lacks the essential amneties including water and supply of electricity. The frequency of visits on the shrine was also cited.

Magnificence of Our Lady of Assumption Parish Church



The Our Lady of Assumtion Parish Church, a three century old minster, is where Gat Andres Bonifacio was jailed for the meantime while his trial was still going on. The church proudly stages their Patron's Saint located at the center stage of the place. The church also have doors rich with carvings.At the top of the church, a bird's eyeview of the town Maragondon could be seen. The structure of the minster shows that it was built during the Spanish regime.

The Valor of Gat Andres Bonifacio

A puppet show was made to portray the events that happened during the history especially about the heroic deeds of Andres Bonifacio in fighting the Spanish colonizers to gain freedom. Andres Bonifacio was the founder of Katipunan that aims to fight the colonizers. he lead the Cry of Pugad Lawin that started the Philippine revolution. He and his brother were both arrested, jailed and later on executed with the crime treason.



The Cry of Pugadlawin is a remarkable event in the Philippine history. It took place on August 23, 1896 at the house of Juan A. Ramos, the son of Melchora Aquino, under the leadership of Andres Bonifacio, the head of Katipunan. More than 500 members of the Katipunan tore their cedulas as a sign of rebellion against the Spaniards.



The Tejeros Convention was held at Tejeros, Cavite (now General Trias) on March 22, 1897. It was the meeting that brought together the members of Magdalo and Magdiwang into one group. The real reason for the convention is to bridge the increasing gap between the two groups but then it turned out to be an election of the leaders for the revolution.



After Emilio Aguinaldo have known about the Naic declaration, he instructed his men to capture Andres Bonifacio and the Katipuneros in Limbon, Indang, Cavite. They were captured and during the encounter, Ciriaco, the brother of Bonifacio, was killed.



A Council of War was formed to try the case of Andres and Procopio Bonifacio. The trial lasted for a week from April 29 - May 4, 1897. Though there was not enough evidence against Bonifacio and his brother, they were found guilty of treason and sedition and were sentenced to death.



The Bonifacio brothers were brought to Mt. Nagpatong on May 10, 1897. Major Lazaro Makapagal led the firing squad of the two brothers. Andres and Procopio Bonifacio were shot and killed for being guilty in treason and sedition even though there are no enough evidences.
